The client is world's largest utility company that provides more than 25 millions houses with gas and electricity. The consumption volume is estimated by supply meters in the subscribers' houses.
To make its service more convenient the company decided to simplify the process of counters data registration. This business solution is dedicated to spare subscribers' time and to limit the necessity of staff assistance.
To develop an energy supplier iPhone application that should enable subscribers to send meters data to the company server by use of their iPhones.
We developed energy supplier app aimed to automate the payment issues between the company and its subscribers.
Since the main goal of the project was to make the application available for everyone's use, the major requirement was making it maximal user-friendly. The application has simple graphic. At the same time, it allows to bring data registration to three quick steps: log-in, data entry, information transfer.
The application precedes the data to the company server that compares the new data with those from the last month. The server identifies user by user's account which contains the information about the user's price rate, last payment, services etc. Energy provider company will then issue a monthly invoice based on the difference in supply meter readings.
iOS, XML, SOAP
The challenging point of the project was integration of the iPhone client with the server part. We integrated the system with a server of the energy supplier. The server operates with all kinds of information about subscribers (services, price rates, payment transactions, last registration). SOAP protocol is used for processing the information.
We finished the project on time and to client satisfaction. The application automated the payment issues between the company and the end users and helped to make the company service more convenient. This experience helped our team to extend our SOAP knowledge. Today we work successfully on large SOAP transformations and welcome any new interesting projects.
