The Client
EY (formerly Ernst & Young) is one of the world’s “Big Four” professional services firms. Its four main service lines cover assurance services (including financial auditing), tax services, advisory services, and transaction advisory services.
The Scope
One of the most important EY activities is on-site audit. In order to estimate state of business and management quality, EY auditors visit the client and take surveys among client’s customers or staff. Surveys’ topic, number of questions and answer choices may differ. For the most part, the process of filling out the questionnaires happens offline. So, EY asked Azoft to develop an elegant audit management system that has all the necessary tools to create, edit, perform surveys in field and process the results.
The Solution
The system itself is a web-based survey constructor. It allows to create and edit surveys. Also, the administrators use the system to create and manage auditors’ accounts and appoint EY employees to on-site audits. As soon as a survey is created, the auditor uploads it to a tablet operating on Windows 8 and goes to the client’s location.
The functionality for filling out forms works perfectly offline. Moreover, there’s an option to attach photos as the answers. When the auditor has finished the field survey, he returns to EY office, synchronizes his or her device with the server and then browses and processes the information received.
Technologies
Server: Java 8, Spring, Hibernate, Liquibase, jQuery, PostgreSQL
Client: Windows Store App (C#, XAML), SQLite
The Challenge
This project was our first experience developing a mobile app for Windows-based tablets. At the beginning, our developers faced a few challenges as they encountered new and unfamiliar technologies, which they quickly mastered. Despite the fact that our team was mastering new technologies, the estimation was very accurate: Azoft completed all work on time without overcoming the budget.
The Outcome
EY already uses the system to collect and process information for government organizations in Australia. Customer’s representative thanked Azoft’s team for the great job and expressed desire to continue our collaborative work on new projects.
