iPhone Dev Center introduces iPhone SDK 3.1 Beta

This is a new event in the world of iphone software development: Apple releases its iPhone OS 3.1, and here we will briefly look at it to find out what is really new in this one. The new OS is compatible with iPod Touch and iPhone, and SDK is only available for Leopard and Snow Leopard users.

According to Apple, “These versions are for development and testing only and should be installed on devices dedicated to iPhone OS 3.1 beta software development.” Well, yes, we can say that this stuff is pretty much only about development.

It is not so easy to say what is new in this version at a glance, but here we can list some major, obvious changes:

Apple Netbook Becomes a Bestseller

On June 8 Apple announced notebooks’ prices lowering, and, as a result, 13” Mac Book has become a top best-seller on Amazon since it actually was released. It has easily overcome its rivals, e.g. Acer & Asus, and by now 3 out of 10 top selling netbooks, as well as 5 out of 20 top selling laptops are Mac.

As netbooks are becoming more and more popular due to their high mobility and convenience, Amazon has made a decision to divide the Laptops category into 2 subcategories: Notebooks & Netbooks. And, despite of the price range from $1000 to $2000, both of these sub-categories are now occupied by Apple.
