Apple Netbook Becomes a Bestseller

By Emma Brem on June 30, 2009

On June 8 Apple announced notebooks’ prices lowering, and, as a result, 13” Mac Book has become a top best-seller on Amazon since it actually was released. It has easily overcome its rivals, e.g. Acer & Asus, and by now 3 out of 10 top selling netbooks, as well as 5 out of 20 top selling laptops are Mac.

As netbooks are becoming more and more popular due to their high mobility and convenience, Amazon has made a decision to divide the Laptops category into 2 subcategories: Notebooks & Netbooks. And, despite of the price range from $1000 to $2000, both of these sub-categories are now occupied by Apple.

This is interesting that, according to Fortune’s Apple 2.0 blog, 30% of the overall netbooks are most likely to be returned due to the fact that the majority of people just still do not understand the difference between a notebook and a netbook. All in all, here we can see 2 things:

• Apple still feels good and continues its campaign on conquiring the Earth
• Netbooks have become a completely separate class of devices that are probably able to overcome PDA’s. In 2009 the annual netbooks sales volume exceeded «oldie» laptops sales volume…

All we can do now is to sit and wait for new miracles from Steve.
