The scopeTo allow GPS coordinates automatic detection of a 911-like service user in case of emergency The main purpose of the project was to provide an emergency call and locations detection service for users of the emergency service. The system should be able to pinpoint the actual caller location using an initiated voice call and sending GPS data via SMS. SolutionThe system developed connects a Java enabled phone, smart phone, or other Java enabled handheld computer to a configured emergency call-center system(s), able to receive and process incoming SMS messages with GPS locations from mobile phone users. Once an emergency call is placed, the program captures current caller’s GPS location and sends the data via SMS to a predefined number to be processed, and then transferred to an Emergency Operator in the form of calling user current location. In case of emergency a user can quickly launch the application from the task bar or from the main menu. The application is designed to simultaneously place a call, receive the GPS data, and send the data via SMS until all actions have success confirmations. Once the application is launched, active user involvement is unnecessary: the user may say or do nothing and be sure the system will definitely help to identify his location and rescue him.
