OSS Inventory Data Migration & Data Validation

The Client

Our client is a large Australian Telecommunication company, one of the oldest landline and wireless operator in Australia.

The Scope

To analyze telecom service provider’s business processes, study specifications, and architecture of the existing OSS for further integration.

The Challenge

The most challenging points were connected with data migration. To name them more specifically:

• Data volume
• Data sources heterogeneity

The Solution

New consumer offerings and the ability to offer next-generation services served as the main business driver for our customer to upgrade Network Inventory solutions.

The task of controlling and testing correctness of data was all done by a pool of testers. The customer's Network Inventory system contains a certain type of metadata regulating the number, use order, and process issues for the ports and cards in use. Data Validator developed in this project phase is a communications hardware technical specifications parser generating XML-files and comparing the XML-files data with the metadata put into the system.

The Outcome

After the main stage of Network Inventory OSS Data Migration was successfully finished our consultants working on-site did some research and offered the client’s management team two additional solutions: Mobile Inventory and Data Validator. One have reduced customer’s annual expenses for $1M; another aimed at improvement of telecom provider network faults management efficiency.
