OSS/BSS Data Integrity Processor & Data Migration from Cramer 5 to 6
The client
A US Telecommunications Consultancy providing BSS/OSS transformation, integration and data migration services to Tier-1 carriers across the globe.
The challenge
One of client's specializations is AMDOCS Cramer installation, customization and data migration. In such projects the last stage, data validation, is a labour intensive and time-consuming process that requires a lot of efforts. While working on one of telecom customer Cramer data migration projects, client decided to develop own automation tool that would significantly ease data validation procedure for metadata driven BSS/OSS applications.
The scope
To develop a tool that would automate AMDOCS Cramer data validation procedure.
The solution
Validator Tool employs an innovative approach that programmatically compares design documentation to the configured metadata model of an OSS system.
The tool can be used with various metadata driven applications and operates through special adaptors. There were several sets of such adaptors developed by our team within the scope of this project:
The first validation adaptors developed were configured to support the AMDOCS Cramer network inventory application.
The following three Validator Adaptors were built to support the Cramer Product:
Cramer Device Model Template Adaptor. This adaptor automates the Cramer device model template testing phase, provides intuitive error reporting and establishes a repeatable process for what traditionally is a very complex testing cycle.
Cramer Metadata Comparison Adaptor. This adapter compares multiple Cramer metadata environments against each other to identify the differences in each environment.
Cramer Application Configuration Adaptor. This adapter compares two Cramer application configurations to assist in the Cramer Configuration Management Process.
The outcome
Validator Tool was developed as a minor part of the 2-year network inventory data migration project that our client ran for one of the largest telecom carriers of Australia.
The tool was required in the final data validation phase and was delivered by our team on time.
Using it in final data migration the client achieved 99.95% data accuracy and saved its customer $1M on manual testing cycles.
